After receiving his BFA, Jaime started teaching at the age of 21 and had a 31-year career as an art and digital design instructor. In his first year of education, he rekindled his passion for illustration and undertook freelance projects using traditional art media during the evenings and summertime.
In the early 1990s, he began to market his art to publishers nationwide. By 1994 he had developed proficiency in digital illustration in Adobe Photoshop 3.0, Adobe Illustrator 5.0, and a Wacom tablet. Jaime conducted research into the market for traditional and computer illustrations, resulting in the discovery of national trade shows. He collaborated with a number of publishers for twelve years, producing t-shirts and greeting cards.
In 2001, he attended the National Stationary Show and acquired several new clients. Subsequently, in 2002, his work was showcased at the Licensing Expo in Manhattan, New York, where it received great success.
His work has been featured on the covers of children's books and the surface of products sold at major retailers, including Barnes & Noble, JCPenney, Target, Walmart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, CVS Pharmacy, Marvel, Toys R Us, Jack Hanna, pet stores nationwide, and hundreds of private vendor tables distributed across Manhattan, NY.
Jaime resides in Southwest Florida with his wife, and their small dog, Sophie, and works as a Graphic Designer for Chico's FAS Inc, while also freelancing for clients.
Jaime is always open to new projects and collaborations.
